Ever since reading waris’s books I have followed her efforts to bring this practice to the attention of the world .
As a professional artist I always believed the impact on the community would be far greater if images of these women/girls and their hard lives were brought to the publics attention .i always believed in another book with photos and illustrations as well as stories .this movie is a great move and I cannot wait to actually see it . these images here on this sit are just stunning and this young girl’s portrait is just wondeful .keep up your life times purpose wais .many are behind you malcolm

    Dear Waris

Maybe I have watched about you many times on TV.
It is a surprise that I never get tired of watching.
    You are great.
But your mother is greater. I respect her so much.
If women like your mother were educated, I am sure that the world was something else, and more peaceful today.

Wish you more success and good health.

Tena koe Waris, I am inspired to read, see and feel your dream to end Female Genital Mutiliation. I am inspired because you had a thought and are following it through. I have learnt that when you believe something then you achieve it. The path was set for you through your mum and dad educating you right from birth. Weren’t they wonderful educators. Thank you for sharing your dream. Sharon Ata-Fort (New Zealand).

    Dear Ms Waris,

I just saw your movie DESERT FLOWER and I want to thank you for your bravery in sharing the trauma with the world!

So many women suffer in silence and this is one of the insipid ways that these cruel acts against women continue.

I cried so much but enjoyed it tremendously, you are an inspiration to me.

    Thank you!

    Tonia
