Prix des Generations
10.09.2007, 10:50
The award of the WDA was given to me by Swiss President of the Federal Parliament Christine Egerszegi-Obrist.
Last week the third World Ageing and Generations Congress - organized by the World Demographic Association - took place at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
One of the highlights was the award ceremony, at which the Prix des Générations was awarded to me. In recognition of my engagement for the well-being of younger generations and my fight against female genital mutilation, said the WDA. The eulogy was given by President of the Swiss Federal Parliament Christine Egerszegi-Obrist. I was happy to hear that finally the Swiss politicians did decide to react on the problem of FGM in Europe too. In Autum there will be chances in the criminal code as well as awareness campaigns within the communities, said Egerszegi-Obrist.
I appreciate the support the World Demographic Association has given to the Waris Dirie Foundation! Thank you!
